The Rivero family have been making wine in Rioja for over 100 years.  The strong foundations of a great family growing in quality and design to produce one of the leading brands in the domestic market.  The success of Rioja has now seen the winery become pinoeers in places such as Utiel Requena and Rias Baxias.

Over 120 years of History

The family business started back in 1899 and many of the traditions back then are still being used in todays advanced production techniques.

This wine is classic Rioja with no oak.  Full of fruit that is has been developed to suit a UK consumers profile.  Its beautiful throughout and very well priced in the Rioja market.

Punchy ripe fruit makes this wine an approaching wine for Rioja that is surprisingly bold on the finish.  Great layers throughout that would certainly complement a Sunday roast!

Short skin maceration and gentle pressed. The clean and fresh must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperature (15-18ºC) using selected yeast.

Packed with juicy citrus fruit that finishes with an elegant creamy texture, this is Rioja white to stay!  Produced by the Rivero family, it has great character that would suit any Sauvignon drinker that wants to appreciate good quality from a popular Red region!

Complex in design and elegant to taste.  Crianza’s for many years have been the backbone of English Rioja and this one is the perfect balance of good oak flavours without the harsh overpowered notes.  Balanced and lengthy on the finish.

De-stemmed and partially crushed, with a high proportion of full berries. 10 – 15 days maceration period with a daily over-pumping. Controlled fermentation at 24 – 28º C with autochthonous yeasts, contained in the grapes themselves. 24 months in American oak barrel and bottle.

Denomination of Origin (DO) Rias Baixas is renowned for the Albarino grape, an indigenous variety that produces some of the world’s foremost white wines. Located in the Galicia region of north-western Spain, the DO was formally established in 1988. Albarino has always been the flagship of this coastal region.

Vineyards located around 700 meters above sea level. Mediterranean-continental weather. Low rainfall regime (400 lts.) The average age of the vineyard is about 30 years and the maximum production of 45 hl / ha. Soils with a frank texture showing a balance between sands, clays and silt.

Rioja

On the nose it shows great expressive aromas, fine and elegant. Perfect fusion of fruity aromas such as pineapple and mango from the Tempranillo Blanco, with floral and citrus touches from the Viura grape. Combined with dried fruits, vanilla and toasted notes, provided by its time in French oak barrels.

JOVEN

Utiel Requena

This wine is simply known as Joven in Spain which means ‘Young’ in English.  This wine is exactly that.  A style that is fresh berry fruit with smooth mid finish.  The wine has been produced as a great introduction to Spanish wine.  No complexity, just fruit driven wine.

This wine take the classic Bobal grape and aged in 225 litre barrels for 6 months.  The outcome is a great level of fruit but through added layers, the finish offers a touch of liqourice and more deeper fruit.  The balance of structure and fruit is evident in a wine of this style.

tempranillo

Tempranillo and Spain is the matchmaker for reds.  The No.1 Spanish red grape grown throughout the land.  Having single varietal is not uncommon but to produce it in this style of red berry fruit with a balanced tannin would make any winemaker proud of their achievements.  Delicate in places but with a surprising medium textured finish.

verdejo

Castilla

A bit like the Pinot of Spain!  This grape has light bodied textures that once discovered truly surprises consumers into a world of grapefruit, green melon and white peach.  Its relatively unknown status helps this particular blend way overdeliver on quality.

SAUV BLANC

Castilla

Less intense Citrus fruit and more undertones of melon with hints of Lemon.  Its complexity is very palatable which makes it a great alternative to cut grass New Zealand Sauvignons. 

Shiraz

Castilla

The white pepper notes of this Shiraz help develop the full bodied and well rounded wine to give great tannins that complement the wine throughout.  Shiraz and spice is where this sits and the balance is excellent for a single varietal from Spain.  

chardonnay

Pale in colour, this Chardonnay has intense hints of pear, tropical fruits and citrus apple.  The palate allows this wine to be fresh and fruity with the finish being rounded with buttery and creamy layers.  

macabeo

Vineyards located in a soft plain between 600 and 900 meters altitude. Naturally low yields are obtained, due to the age of the strains and the low rainfall during the year that ensure a good quality and the concentration of the grape

bobal

Castilla

Bobal, Castilla and Rose is a triangle that works very well and this presented wine is no different.  A grape popular with Rioja Rose’s, this style is typical ripe berry fruits wrapped up in a light very approachable finish.  Young, and youthful that can quite easily be drunk on is own.

cabernet sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon in the UK has always been a strong backbone to red wines and this wine is typical Cabernet.  A well structured wine that has hints of spice with abundance of strong berry fruit.  Ideal for winters evenings with a home cooked stew! 

bobal tinto

Utiel Requena

High intensity of cherry colour with violet edges. Bobal is a variety that has a high content of tannins, so they are usually wines of good structure. In this case it is a mouth wine of good volume and ripe tannins. A game of good aromatic complexity has been selected where there are notes of black fruits such as blackberry and red fruits such as strawberry accompanied by a delicate spicy touch.

Lively and bright wine with a light cherry colour.  On the nose, like any good bobal, its intensity stands out with fruity aromas, strawberry and raspberry.  On the palate it is refreshing, highlighting its balanced acidity and rounded fruit.

Barrica 88 Aged

100% Macabeo used in this wine that sees a small amount of oak.  Notes of ripe banana and vanilla on the nose with more complexity, honey and citrus and  on the finish.  The wine

Barrica 88 Reserva pushes the boundaries on robust deep fruit wine.  With great intensity, this wine shows good levels of fruit driven by a backbone of dark fruit that finishes quite elegantly.  A wine that highlights the quality potential from regions like Utiel Requena.

Very intense, clean and very bright garnet red colour. Very good aromatic intensity that conveys a sensation of fresh red fruit (currant cherry). Very pleasant on the palate both for its initial smoothness and for the balance it shows due to its excellent fruitiness.

Very intense and bright cherry colour. Very intense aroma with marked fruity sensations of blackberry and blueberries perfectly integrated with a quality wood that surrounds everything. Good structure and good fruity expression on the palate, powerful and with ripe tannins.

Intense cherry colour, garnet rim. Intense aroma of candied fruit, sweet spices perfectly integrated with a quality wood that makes it elegant. Very tasty in the mouth, powerful and fruity, with ripe tannins.
